　　中华民族历经磨难，自强不息，从未放弃对美好梦想的向往和追求。实现中华民族伟大复兴的中国梦是近代以来中华民族的夙愿。

　　Although Chinese people have experienced trials and tribulations, they have always being relying on their own strength to match ahead and never give up their pursuit of great dreams. The Chinese dream, which means the wish to rejuvenate the Chinese nation, is a long-cherished dream since modern times.

　　【评论】：“自强不息”最好译为never cease to strengthen oneself，中文中有句“师夷之长以自强”，在英美的史书中是这样说的：to strengthen itself by learning from the West. “美好梦想”其实就是dreams; 最后一句：汉语前重心，英语后重心，应该以it作主语。

　　【参考译文】The Chinese nation, though having undergone sufferings and hardships, has never ceased to strengthen itself and never relented in their determination to pursue their aspirations and dreams. It has always been their long-cherished dream over the past century/since modern times to achieve the great revival of the nation.

　　在新的历史时期，中国梦的本质是国家富强、民族振兴、人民幸福。我们的奋斗目标是，到2020年国内生产总值和城乡居民人均收入在2010年基础上翻一番，全面建成小康社会。到本世纪中叶，建成富强民主文明和谐的社会主义现代化国家，实现中华民族伟大复兴的中国梦。

　　In this new historical era, the essence of Chinese dream is to achieve economic prosperity, national renewal and the happiness of the people. We have three major goals: first, to double the 2010 GDP and per capita income of both urban and rural residents (of 2010) by 2020; second, to finish the building of a moderately prosperous society in all aspects; third, to build a strong, democratic, civilized and harmonious socialist nation out of China by the middle of this century. All these lead to the fulfillment of the Chinese dream of achieving the great renewal of the Chinese nation.

　　【评论】：“中国梦的本质”不一定按原文的结构译，因为这样表达存在逻辑上的错误，最好译为the Chinese dream is in essence to achieve …;最后一句应译为将来完成时; build a strong, democratic, civilized and harmonious socialist nation out of China by the middle of this century一句中的build句法用得非常地道，一般人只用错误的build…into。

　　【参考译文】In this new period of history, the Chinese dream is in essence to achieve a rich and strong nation, a national renewal and a happy life for the people. Our goals are to double the 2010 GDP and per capita income of both urban and rural residents and complete the building of a moderately prosperous society by 2020. By mid-21st century, we will have fulfilled our dream for the great renewal of the nation by building a rich, powerful, democratic, culturally advanced and harmonious country out of modern socialist China.

　　实现中国梦，必须坚持中国特色社会主义道路。我们已经在这条道路上走了30多年，历史证明，这是一条符合中国国情、富民强国的正确道路，我们将坚定不移地沿着这条道路走下去。

　　To realize the Chinese dream, we must stay on the path of Chinese socialism. We have been on this road for over 30years and history has showed (us) that it is a road in accordance with China’s reality and it leads to prosperity, so we will continue to match ahead firmly on this road.

　　【评论】：第一句与第二句的“我们已经在这条道路上走了30多年”连在一起译。“历史证明，这是一条符合中国国情、富民强国的正确道路”可译为 “It has proved to be the right path for China-specific conditions that will lead the nation to prosperity”;“坚定不移地”可省略，英语中没有这样的搭配。

　　【参考译文】To live out the Chinese dream, we must stay on the path of Chinese socialism as we have over the past three decades. History has proven it to be the right path for China's national conditions that will bring prosperity to China and its people. We will continue to advance along this path.(We will stay firmly on this path.)

　　实现中国梦，必须弘扬中国精神。用以爱国主义为核心的民族精神和以改革创新为核心的时代精神振奋起全民族的“精气神”。

　　To realize the Chinese dream, we must keep up the Chinese spirit. We should encourage our nation as a whole by raising the national spirit centered on patriotism and the pioneer spirit centered on reform and innovation.

　　【评论】：此段译得很好，“振奋”译为inspire可能更好。

　　【参考译文】To fulfill the Chinese dream, we must promote the Chinese spirit. We need to boost the morale of the whole nation with the patriotism-centered national spirit and the reform- and innovation-based zeitgeist.

　　实现中国梦，必须凝聚中国力量。空谈误国，实干兴邦。我们要用13亿中国人的智慧和力量，一代又一代中国人不懈努力，把我们的国家建设好，把我们的民族发展好。

　　To realize the Chinese dream, we must pool the strength of the whole nation. Empty talks would lead the country astray, while hard work can rejuvenate the nation. 1.3 billion Chinese people will exert our intelligence and strength, through the efforts of generation after generation, to build China into a prosperous country and make Chinese nation a great nation.

　　【评论】：根据英语搭配，“凝聚力量”还可用collect strength表达。汉语的有一句话叫“一言丧邦，一言兴邦”，译为A word false, a nation falls; a word proper, a nation prospers. 因此，此处的“兴邦”也可译为prosper;但从逻辑上讲，第一句与第二句脱节，因此最好增加过渡词it is believed 或as the saying goes等。make Chinese nation a great nation最好改为 make the Chinese nation a great one。

　　【参考译文】To realize the Chinese dream, we must pool the strength of the whole country. It is believed that empty talk corrupts the nation, while hard work helps it prosper. With the wisdom and might of the 1.3 billion Chinese and through the constant efforts by generation after generation, we will make ourselves rich and China strong.

　　实现中国梦，必须坚持和平发展。我们将始终不渝走和平发展道路，始终不渝奉行互利共赢的开放战略，不仅致力于中国自身发展，也强调对世界的责任和贡献;不仅造福中国人民，而且造福世界人民。实现中国梦给世界带来的是和平，不是动荡;是机遇，不是威胁。

　　To realize Chinese dream, we must develop peacefully. We will unshakably follow the path of peaceful development and the win-win strategy of opening-up. This means that China will not only focus on our own development, but also take up our due responsibilities and make contribution to the whole world. And our development will bring well-being to both the Chinese people and the people of the world. The realization of Chinese dream will bring peace and opportunity to the world, not turbulence or threat.

　　【评论】：此段比前面各段译得都好。“始终不渝”可译为always/invariably。最后一句应是强调句。

　　【参考译文】To realize the Chinese dream, we must pursue peaceful rise. China pledges to always follow the path of peaceful development and the win-win strategy of opening-up. China will not only be committed to developing itself, but also shoulder the responsibilities for and make contributions to the welfare of the world. We will work for the common good of the people of both China and the world. It is peace and opportunities, not commotions or threats, that the Chinese dream will bring to the world when it comes true.
